3VA is working in partnership with Active Sussex on a workforce project to get more local people physically active and to support local activity providers to make that happen.
As our mission is supporting and developing local communities and community organisations, we recognise that one of the differences we can make is working to reduce inactivity – especially through enabling greater health and well being and reducing social isolation.
3VA has a key role in supporting Active Sussex to continue developing a workforce infrastructure to tackle physical inactivity in Sussex. This work has been made possible by an £80,000 grant investment from Sport England.
How it works
In Phase 1 of the project conducted in December 2019, we held focus group meetings for activity providers to gain a better understanding of what physical activities are currently on offer and how they might be enhanced. Activity providers were interested in helping people who are currently physically inactive in their local area to become more active and included those involved in working or volunteering in a sports club, dance classes, yoga sessions, health walks, or anything that promotes physical activity.
The next steps involve working with Active Sussex to analyse the results from Phase 1 and to
develop workforce development plans for each area.
Where it's delivered
3VA is delivering this project in Eastbourne (Devonshire ward), Hailsham (Hailsham East) and Newhaven (Newhaven Valley).
