Salary range, dependent on skill & experience: £24,982 - £27,041 per annum (pro rata) (Paid)

37 hours per week, although flexible working options will be considered (subject to business need). Based in Eastbourne or Newhaven with travel expected across East Sussex
Fixed Term until 31st March 2023 in the first instance

Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) delivers a range of projects & services aimed at supporting the needs of vulnerable individuals and empowering and further developing community activity. We are now looking for an experienced individual to join our Aspirations team. Aspirations is a Building Better Opportunities project funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund

The Aspirations Coach will be responsible for supporting SCDA participants along their journey through the Aspirations service. A service designed to increase wellbeing, resilience and skills, and to provide a pathway to training, education, volunteering or work opportunities for people who have experienced mental health issues as a barrier to work. The service includes partners from the voluntary sector, arts, sports and community groups and is currently being delivered across Kent and East Sussex.

The Coach will work with the Project Manager to recruit suitable participants to the Aspirations service and will work across East Sussex to engage hard-to-reach people. The Coach will provide a holistic, supportive and collaborative service to help identify goals and develop individual plans of support. These could include educational, volunteering or work opportunities that are suitable to the individual.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills and will be a confident and credible ambassador for SCDA, showing sensitivity to the aims & values of the organisation as a whole.

Post subject to a DBS check and can be based in Newhaven or Eastbourne, with extensive travel across East Sussex and occasional travel to Kent.

Covid-19 conditions
In line with the current UK Government restrictions we are implementing Covid-safe conditions in the work place. Interviews will be conducted on site in Newhaven in line with social distancing guidelines at the time. The successful applicant will be supported and equipped to work in the office and from home for some of the working week.
