Dialogue School counselling, an established BACP accredited school counselling service covering Brighton and Hove, East and West Sussex and Surrey are recruiting for a School Counsellor. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified counsellor with experience of working with young people of secondary school age to join our team and deliver the school counselling service at PCS.

You will work closely with the school key contact to continue the provision of a high quality, ethical counselling service to the pupils of Peacehaven Community School. This will include agreeing a regular session schedule with the school, undertaking assessments and completing all associated admin in a timely manner. You will be required to attend regular clinical supervision and line management meetings.

Role Responsibilities

You’ll have experience in working with young people of secondary age, ideally in a school setting and will be familiar with using a range of creative therapeutic approaches. You’ll have a professional, flexible attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage your time well. You’ll be confident in identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns.

Key Requirements

  • Graduate or Post graduate level Counselling Diploma or equivalent [of two years minimum duration including personal counselling or psychotherapy].
  •  BACP Registration or Accreditation or eligibility for Professional Accreditation (or equivalent professional body)
  • Experience in individual counselling with young people to include working with risk issues.
  • Experience of using creative therapeutic techniques.
  • A sound understanding of Child Protection & Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding issues, policies and procedures.
