22.5 hours per week – permanent
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Community Development Worker to develop and deliver services & activities in Hailsham, in collaboration with the local community, and further to develop community facilities & assets which meet the needs in their neighbourhood.
Currently these local needs have been identified as: Befriending to address social isolation, volunteering, and activities with a health focus for older people, children and families.
Your role will be to develop community engagement, help people get connected and build community leadership and involvement to improve neighbourhoods and meet identified needs.
Working from a Hailsham location and reporting to the Community Hubs Project Manager, you will build partnerships in the community with stakeholders and local people, encouraging volunteering and developing activities for thriving communities.
With responsibility for the oversight of an SCDA community hub, you will manage a Development Worker, volunteers and community messengers and have responsibility for developing, delivering and coordinating services and activities for future sustainability, drawing as needed on additional SDCA services.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Significant and proven experience of project and service development, delivering and evaluating services in the community
- Supervisory experience, inc volunteers
- Experience of partnership and multi-agency working
- Experience of reporting, monitoring and evaluating
- Experience of collaborating on and/or writing funding bids would be an advantage.
You will be a motivated self-starter who is able to plan and manage time effectively, use your initiative and have a flexible & positive approach to community engagement. The post is subject to a DBS check. Being a car owner and driver is essential.
Covid-19 conditions
In line with current government guidance on social distancing, we are implementing Covid-safe conditions in the work place and are bringing our teams back into the office at an appropriate level. By the time an appointment is made, there may be further guidance from the UK government which we would follow. We would like interviews for this role to take place in person with social distancing measures. The successful applicant will be equipped and supported with blended working if still required – i.e. a combination of working in the office and working from home for some days each week.
