Kim’s story

This photo is of our volunteer, Kim, and Tracey, a former resident at The Chaseley Trust. They are getting ready to celebrate Tracey’s book launch I’m glad you didnt die Mummy.

What did your volunteer do?

Kim has volunteered at Chaseley for 3 years and he supports all our residents in a variety of ways – weekly bingo sessions, poetry club, reading to them, taking them on trips out, being a mentor and someone they can talk to. In addition to this Kim goes above and beyond what is asked of him every week and has such compassion and empathy in what he does.

How did your volunteer make a difference?

Kim worked with one resident who has Locked In Syndrome to help them finish writing their first book, get it published, have a book launch and supported them at interviews for local and national television and newspapers. Kim has also written and published a booklet, for free, that celebrates Chaseley’s history as part of their 75th Anniversary and all money raised from the sales of these booklets will go towards their 75th Anniversary Fundraising Appeal.
